Pet Portraits from photographs are a beautiful way to capture the unique personality of your beloved dog or cat. My animal portraits are a wonderful tribute to your valued family member and express the uniqueness of your pets personality which you will treasure for a lifetime. Pet portraits make wonderful and truely unique gifts for you or a special person. Birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, retirements, graduations and Christmas are all perfect occasions to give a memorable gift that will be cherished for years to come. Animal portraits also make very special memorials for beloved pets that are no longer with us. I simply adore animals and take great pleasure in being able to create portraits that possess the individual character and likeness of your dog or cat. Photographs do not compare to the expression and mood that is the very essence of my work and is captured forever in my finely detailed drawings. My name is Jewel Mathieson and I am a self taught artist living in the small seaside town of Nelson, New Zealand. All of my pet portraits are completed using only the finest art materials available. Coloured pencils are my prefered medium for pet portraiture as they are very versatile and offer rich, vibrant colour. My coloured pencil portraits are created using many subtle layers of colour to achieve realism and depth. Coloured pencils enable me to create precise and accurate definition, as well as very soft flowing detail in other areas where needed. Please visit my Gallery to view portraits of dogs, puppies, cats, kittens and more. See my coloured pencil drawings and sketches, watercolour paintings, and acrylic paintings. Thank you for taking the time to look at my web site. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to ask. |
